Chatel
is an authentic Savoyarde farming village that has lost little of
its charm. On Wednesday mornings there's a colourful village
market offering a wide variety of local produce, clothes and
souvenirs. The village has a bright night-life with plenty of bars
and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
In and around Chatel there are six main lifts giving you easy
access to fantastic skiing. Why worry about having the same lift
on your doorstep every day?
So that's where?...
Châtel is about one and a half hour's drive
from Geneva airport.
Can we drive?
You certainly can! It will take you around
8-10 hours from Calais, depending on which route you take. You'll
need around 60 Euros or a Credit Card for the tolls on the
autoroutes. The route through the Jura (via Pontarlier) is very
picturesque and will cut around 1½ hours and a few Euros off your
trip, though you may need snow-chains/snow-tyres if it snows.
We recommend you bring snow chains if you're driving.
